About

A Path Forward

If you’ve ever left an appointment feeling smaller than when you walked in, I want this to be different.

I’m Kristy Riley, a psychologist based in Melbourne. I’ll be upfront: I’m not the neutral-toned, blazer-wearing therapist you might picture. I show up to sessions online, usually in bright colours. Therapy with me should feel like a real conversation.

I’ve been doing this work for over 15 years, and along the way I’ve become especially passionate about trauma-informed care and working with people who are chronically ill, neurodivergent, or just facing a hard stretch of life. I’m also a mother, and my own experience of chronic illness has shown me how life can take you down different paths, and how hard it can be, at times, to even see a path ahead. I’ve worked in community health and in private practice. I’m also a board approved supervisor.

I draw on a range of therapies, including EMDR and Schema Therapy, but together we’ll pick whatever actually fits you, rather than forcing you through a one-size-fits-all process. Trauma work in particular asks for a lot of care and a lot of trust, and I take that seriously. I’m also affirming of neurodivergent and LGBTQIA+ folks, because good therapy should feel safe, not like one more place you have to mask.

Whatever’s brought you here, my hope is simple: that you leave each session feeling heard, safe, and met with a non-judgemental ear.

If you’re after someone warm, straightforward, and a little bit quirky to walk alongside you, I’d love to hear from you.
